10 Best Credit Cards In India 2024 India has a lot of credit cards to choose from. It’s not as easy as it sounds to find the right one for you, so we’ve put together this guide to help you make an informed decision.
First off, let’s talk about the basics and understand credit cards.
They’re basically plastic cards that allow you to borrow money from your bank and pay it back over time. Some people use them for convenience—they can use them like cash at any time, and they don’t have to worry about paying interest on their purchases. Others prefer them because they offer more flexibility in terms of spending limits and fees than debit cards do.
Which are the best credit cards to keep in India? Many people, especially the salaried ones ask this question. The truth is, there is no single credit card that is best suited to everybody. Every credit card is different and offers different kinds of benefits.
Factors To Consider Before Opting For A Credit Card
When you’re ready to apply for the best credit card in India, there are a few factors that you’ll want to take into consideration:
Credit Score
First, the credit score requirements will vary depending on the type of card you’re looking for. If you’re looking for a card specifically for travel and shopping, the higher, the better—but if you don’t have much of a history of using credit cards, it might be wise to start with the one that’s easier to qualify for.
Fees
Second, fees can quickly add up—especially if you tend to carry a balance from month to month (which is common with cards like this). A high-interest rate can also make it more difficult to pay off your balance each month, so be sure to shop around when comparing rates. Be sure to check the fees associated with your chosen card.
Some cards offer cash-back rewards or other perks that come with annual fees or interest rates. Others charge an annual fee even if there are no other fees or interest rates attached to the account itself. You’ll need to figure out what works best for you before signing up!
Interest Rates
Third, interest rates are typically higher, so make sure that’s an important factor when choosing your card. The interest rate you’ll pay on your new credit card will depend on how long you’ve been using it and where you live.
Most cards offer an introductory period where there are no fees or interest charges for your first few months of use, but then this changes into a regular APR (annual percentage rate). These rates vary from 0% up to 27% depending on how long you’ve had the account and where you live.
Features To Watch Out Before Applying For The Best Credit Card in India
When applying for a credit card in India, it’s a good idea to do some research on the offers and features offered by your potential credit card provider as per your use. These can be very useful in helping you to manage your finances.
1) How You Plan to Use the Card
Before applying for a credit card in India, you should first consider how you plan to use it. A credit card is a great way to build your credit history and establish yourself as an income earner. You can use a credit card for any purpose, but you should be aware of its limits before applying.
2) Annual Percentage Rates (APRs)
Another important factor is annual percentage rates (APRs). These are the interest rates charged by banks and other financial institutions on loans or credit cards.
The rate will vary depending on many factors, including how much money you want to borrow, how long it will take for you to repay this amount, and how reliable your income is at any given time (for example, if there are other expenses such as rent or student loans that need paying every month).
3) Credit Limit
If you don’t plan on using the money on the card regularly, then there’s no need to worry about having a high
But if you do plan on making regular purchases with it, then your credit limit must be large enough to accommodate these purchases without jeopardizing your ability to pay off the balance in full each month.
4) Rewards
When considering rewards programs, make sure they’re worth the cost. Some cards offer cash back or other perks, but those can be difficult to redeem and may not be worth the trouble if you’re just looking for extra cash back on your purchases.
5) Penalties
You should look into the penalties for missing a payment. While some credit cards have a grace period before paying a charge, others have a higher fee for any late payment. Before applying for a credit card, it’s important to know what your card will charge you in case of missed payments.
10 Best Credit Cards in India 2024:
Below are some of the top credit cards to keep in India. We have categorized the content under different heads that may help you figure out which credit card is best in India.
Credit Cards for Salaried Individuals
Here are some good options for salaried individuals-
The risks of opting for a credit card in India are many. The biggest risk is credit card fraud, which is quite common in India. Your card could be compromised by hackers who use it to make fraudulent purchases or transfer money to other accounts. This can happen when you’re using your card at a store that doesn’t accept cards or online purchases, or if you use it without securing it with two-factor authentication.
Another risk is high-interest rates. If you don’t pay off your balance on time each month, the interest rate will add up quickly and may turn into a fee if you don’t pay it off within a year.
There are also some cards that offer benefits like travel insurance or roadside assistance, but those are often not worth the cost of using them.
Conclusion
So, these were the top 10 credit cards in India. The main reason to have a credit card and, most importantly, compare credit cards India these days is that you can build a good credit history. You can also get loans at a favourable time if your credit history is good.
As a new cardholder, you must ensure that the credit card has a good or excellent credit score requirement. Credit scores are indicative of the likelihood of somebody being able to repay their debts. A card with an excellent credit score requirement can be used by consumers with very high scores who do not require any additional safeguards.
As you have read above in the blog about credit card comparison India, you can also get a discount on your purchases by using a credit card. Some credit cards can also help you protect those purchases against any damage or theft.
If you use Google Analytics to get statistics about your blog, then you have been getting emails from Google saying that you need to move to a Google Analytics 4 property. They have messages like this:
Universal Analytics will no longer process new data in standard properties beginning 1 July 2023. Prepare now by setting up and switching over to a Google Analytics 4 property.
What they mean is that from 1 July 2023, statistics will only be counted if you have set up a new type of “identifier”.
The old identifier will keep on collecting statistics until then.
But it is not possible to convert data from the old identifier to a new one: if you want to get updated analytics from 2 July 2023, or if you want to compare data from then with data over the last 12 months, then you NEED to install the new identifier (ie a Google Analytics 4 property) into your blog now.
Isn’t Blogger supporting this?
In short – not yet, hopefully soon.
A long tine ago (10+ years?) we had to install analytics into our Theme (called a template at that time) manually. And because of where in the template it was installed, there were issues with counting mobile vs desktop visits.
Eventually Blogger added a Google Analytics Property ID field to the settings tab, and code to use this value in our blogs. All we had to do was to add our blog in Google Analytics, get its ID-value from there, and paste that ID-value into the Blogger’s Settings tab.
At the moment, this field only accepts and uses the “old style” Universal Analytics tags.
I expect that Blogger will start accepting Google Analytics 4 properties “soon”. But I don’t know when that will happen. And I know that I do want to be able to look at blog-performance vs this time last year. So I’m not going to wait for Blogger: instead, I’m manually setting up and installing Google Analytics 4 properties for my most important blogs now.
Choose the blog you want to move to Google Analytics 4 from the website dropdown
In the Property column, click on GA4 Setup Assistant
Click on Get Started
Review the information in the window that opens (they will almost certainly be what you want – you can only migrate tags if you are using them – and if you are, you likely don’t need to be reading this article!)
Click on Create Property
Click the Go to your GA4 Property button – this will open the new property.
In the right-hand column, click on Data Streams.
Under the Web option, click the action-arrow beside your property-name. This opens a pop-up where you can get the info to install into your blog.
Scroll down to Tagging Instructions, and click Add new on-page tag
Click Global site tag and use the button to copy the tag which is shown
Edit your blog’s Theme in the usual way, and paste the code just after the </head> tag.
Job done: in a few hours, your GA4 property should say that it is now collecting data for your blog. Because of this, when July 2023 arrives, you will be able to look back and see year-over-year trends in your blog’s visitor counts and behaviours.
Google Analytics 4
How to set up a Google Analytics 4 profile for a blog that doesn’t use Analytics now
Sign in to www.blogger.com with the Google account you want to use to collect data for this blog.
Choose Web, then enter the website name and URL. Click Create Stream.
To go Tagging Instructions, and then Add New on-page URL
Click Add New on-page Tag and then click into Global Site tag.
Copy the code, and install in into your blog by:
Editing your Blogger Theme in the usual way
Finding the </head> tag (see the How to find things in HTML mode in this article, if you are unsure how to locate the tag – the feature is very similar in the theme editor)
Pasting the code you copied just before </head>
Job done: your should shortly have code from the net tag counting things on your site, and you should be able to see data in the Google Analytics property which you made for the blog.
E-commerce revenue in the U.S. was estimated to be $768 billion last year and it is expected to exceed $1.3 trillion in the next three years. E-commerce revenue in India is projected to touch $57.70 billion i.e. around INR 475 billion in 2023 according to Statista. If you are in the retail space, creating an e-commerce site can allow you to get a share of that pie. Here’s How To Create a Ecommerce Website in just seven steps.
Step 1. Choose Your Content Management System (CMS)
The foundation of every website is a content management system (CMS). There are a number of different content management systems to choose from open-source platforms such as WordPress to beginner-friendly all-in-one website builders such as Shopify or Squarespace. Which is right for you and your online store will depend on your budget, experience, and unique e-commerce needs.
Here are the most popular content management systems for e-commerce websites:
WordPress: The world’s leading CMS that is also one of the most customizable.
Shopify: An ideal e-commerce solution for building a dropshipping business.
Squarespace: One of the best website builders for beginners who want to easily build a professional website with no previous web design experience.
Square Online: Best for existing retailers that are looking to sell in-person and online.
Wix: An all-in-one website builder that is both easy to use and highly customizable.
For help deciding which is the best CMS for your e-commerce needs, learn more about the best e-commerce platforms.
Once you have decided which CMS to use, the next step is to create an account–unless you choose WordPress. If you are planning to build your e-commerce site with WordPress, your next step is to get a web hosting plan. The best web hosting services come with a free domain name, a free SSL certificate and one-click WordPress installation, eliminating the need to manually connect your domain and hosting to WordPress.
If you’re using a website builder such as Shopify, Squarespace, Square Online or wix login, simply navigate to the provider’s website and register for an account. If your chosen CMS allows, register your domain name through the CMS to eliminate the need for manual domain configuration process.
In the instance where your chosen CMS does not give you the option to get a domain name, register your domain using a domain name registrar. For help choosing one, check out our article on the best domain registrar.
Step 3. Select an E-commerce Theme or Template
The first thing you need to consider is a theme for your website. Themes are ready-made templates that give your website a consistent look and feel. All subscription platforms have tons of templates to choose from, so whether you’re building your e-commerce website with WordPress, Shopify, Wix or anything else, you will have pre built templates and themes to choose from.
Keep in mind that while free templates are generally available across most platforms, some also offer paid (or premium) templates. For example, both WordPress and Shopify offer premium themes that range in price from around INR 2,400 to over INR 16,600. The benefit is that many offer more unique designs, which can help businesses that want a specific look to reduce the amount of time spent customizing their chosen theme.
Step 4. Customize Your Site and Build Out Web Pages
After you have found the perfect theme or template for your online store, the next step is to begin customizing it. This is where you will be updating your header and footer, configuring your site’s navigation, and building out pages from your homepage to your refunds and return policy page.
Step 5. Create Product Listings
No online store is complete with product listings. So once you have built out your website, the next step is to create your product catalog, complete with all of your individual product listings. In this process be sure to organize and categorize your listings so they are easy for your future site visitors to find and for you to manage.
Step 6. Set Up a Payment Gateway, Inventory and Tax Tools
After you have populated your e-commerce website, there are a few key aspects of building an e-commerce site to attend to from setting up a payment processor to adding inventory and tax tools.
Choose a Payment Gateway
When it comes to choosing and setting up a payment gateway, many online retailers opt for third-party tools such as Stripe or PayPal to make the process easier and more secure. If you are redirecting the customer to other websites, you must ensure that the data is fully encrypted before transfer.
If you are choosing payment integrations, consider these points:
How easy is it to integrate the tool with your platform?
Is the tool secure?
Is the tool PCI-compliant?
What are the fees you and the customer must pay?
Integrate Shipping
If your platform allows it, you should integrate shipping with your e-commerce website for a seamless experience. It will also simplify operations and you can focus on selling. But before you integrate shipping, determine your shipping policies such as free shipping, variable fee, flat rate, etc. And while you are at it, also establish refund and return policies.
Add a Sales Tax Calculator (Optional)
Additionally, you may want to consider adding a tax calculator to automatically calculate sales tax, shipping and any other fees at checkout.
Step 7. Test and Launch Your E-Commerce Site
Before launching the e-commerce site to your customers, you must check the site thoroughly. Every button and every link on the site must be working. Even 404 error web pages should be designed according to the theme.
Run tests to see if you can add products to the cart and process the payment. Most platforms will allow you to test payment processing without actually charging your credit card. Be sure to check if all the emails are getting sent to the right inboxes after a purchase has been made or declined. And last but not least, check how your site looks and functions on mobile devices. If possible, try to check out the site’s performance on different web browsers.
Once you have tested and double-checked everything, from product descriptions to category pages, you are ready to launch.
Announce the launch of your e-commerce store through your social media pages, guest posts on popular retail blogs in your niche, influencer marketing and to your email lists. If you have the budget, you can also go for paid advertising on Facebook, Google and other platforms.
Why You Should Sell Online
Before you actually start building your e-commerce website, you need to be clear about your business needs for building a website. Here are some reasons why you should sell online.
More People Are Buying Online
Buying online is convenient as well as safe, and during the recent pandemic, e-commerce sales surged by as much as 40% in 2020, the first pandemic year. The easy availability of smartphones also means that you can buy from anywhere, any time of the day. So it’s obvious that people will continue buying long after the pandemic has abated.
Setting Up an E-Commerce Storefront Is Cheaper
When you compare it with a brick-and-mortar store, Setting up an e-commerce storefront is much cheaper. This is partially because brick-and-mortar stores incur multiple fixed costs such as rent, electricity bills, employee payments, infrastructure maintenance, etc.
E-Commerce Website Can Augment Off-Line Sales
It is not necessary that online and offline stores should be mutually exclusive. They can augment each other nicely when you tell people about your brick-and-mortar store on your e-commerce website and install app kiosks in your stores.
For instance, Amazon is now opening brick-and-mortar stores after the runaway success of its online e-commerce website.
Create Unique Customer Experiences
Personalizing experiences and services are much easier online. You can use different media including video, audio, stories, customer reviews and personalized messaging to build an experience your customers cherish and share with others.
Start Selling Immediately
Once you have the website ready, all you need to do is set up payment processing and list your products on the website to start selling. There is no need to wait for new employees, stockpile inventory or generate enough marketing buzz. You are in business the moment you put your website live.
Eliminate Costly Overheard With Dropshipping
When you think of retail, the first thing that comes to mind is sourcing, maintaining and handling inventory. However, if you choose a dropshipping business model, you don’t need to maintain and handle inventory by yourself.
Bottom Line
An e-commerce website is your online brand identity. You must take care to build it in a way that makes it easier for customers to experience your brand. Also, remember that it is not possible to get everything right the first time. Keep learning from your experiences, be ready to experiment and make changes when required.
